We are seeking a candidate to work on the computational project titled "Mapping and predicting the routes of antibiotic resistance spread" a joint collaboration between our group at Heidelberg University and Autenrieth lab at Medical Faculty Heidelberg University. Required Qualifications
PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in microbiology, bioinformatics, genomics, computational biology, or a closely related field
• Relevant experience in R/Python or equivalent programming languages
• Experience working in Linux/Unix environments and on high-performance computing systems.
• Experience in Biostatistics and/or statistical modelling
• Background and/or strong interest in at least one of the following areas is highly preferable: Microbiome research, metagenomics, Mobile genetic elements, antibiotic resistance, horizontal gene transfer
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills.

We are a computational microbiology lab but we also welcome students, researchers and clinicians without any prior programming experience. If your interests align with the research done in the lab and you are keen on learning programming, get in touch.
We also encourage students and researchers from non-biological sciences background trained in statistics/machine learning, with strong programming skills to get in touch.
